Middle Ages
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: The History Channel
Hi. Lately i've been studying the middle ages. What a fascinating time. In some ways the people living then were more advanced than i first imagined. For example, they did certain types of surgery back then. But a 1000 years is a big span of time. I've read a litlle covering the entire span, but out of necessity had to narrow my focus and have chosen the 14th century. That was the time of Chaucer, the Black Death, Edward the II and III, Richard II, and the Peasants' Revolt to name a few things. So what i want to know is, what do you think of this era? I'd be interested in your comments. Thanks. -laura

Hi Laura,

A very interesting period, the Middle Ages.  It's my understanding that Women's Rights were actually advanced during this time, because women had to take over all the business and farms when such a large percentage of the population died in the plague.  Sadly, it took another 500 years or so to start reclaiming them. A difficult period for writers, however, because truly authentic speech patterns are difficult for most of us to follow today.

Hi Laura!  I'm Cathie, a reader.   We chatted before at the  Forbidden chat.  Don't know when they are having the chats, haven't seen annoucements, but I'll be there  when I can!

I love reading historicals! I just saw that  you have a historical out with  Wings! I'm going to plan to get the  print very soon! What time period  is for this book? I  love reading Medieval, Regency, Westerns, really most settings.  I don't read much set within wars, like the civil war, when alot is centered around the story about that.  It really depends because I have read some wonderful books with that setting (PROMISE  ME FOREVER by Lorraine Heath , ONCE  IN EVERY LIFE by Kristin Hannah (her early books when she wrote romance) (its actually a Time Travel that goes back in time to the war and post tramantic sydrome) and FAITH AND HONOR by Robin  Maderich (she now writes as Celia Ashley afor NCP that I can think of right now).  So I do read them but not as much a s  I read Regency and Mediveal. I just love to escape with a historical read.  What is the Victorian? I had almost thought that was the same as a Regency.  Any place you'd too refer for more info thats easy to understand? Thanks. I'm not one who looks for accurancy (I read alot  of historical fantasy too) but I like to  learn a bit and know w hat  time setting I'm reading in, smile). Oh I read some with Vikings but not sure  of the setting for that. Love Highlander/Scotland, I believe thats Medieval, right? If not ignore me, LOL.  I'm looking forward I hope  to be able to get your print very soon!  I love chatting books and historicals and hope to chat  with you  more! (PS Sorry on my typos, I could not find a spell checker here.

I'm not techy so I can't tell you how to do it but just  so you know, thats how most  go to visit blogs when they know something new is posted, and I'll  have no way of knowing here if you post or reply.  Thanks. Cathie
